Cleanliness is the most-reviewed category on Airbnb and a direct driver of your star rating. A missed item — a hair on the bathroom floor, a stain on a pillowcase, soap scum on the shower — can cost you a 5-star review. Here's the complete turnover checklist.
Bedroom
- Strip all bedding (sheets, pillowcases, duvet cover) and replace with fresh set
- Check mattress for stains — treat if found
- Make bed to hotel standard (tight, smooth, symmetric)
- Wipe all surfaces including nightstands, lamps, and headboard
- Check under the bed — guests look there
- Check wardrobe/closet for left-behind guest items
- Vacuum carpet or mop hardwood
- Empty waste bin and replace liner
- Check curtains/blinds for stains or damage
Bathroom
- Scrub toilet including base and behind
- Clean sink, faucet, and counter
- Clean shower/tub — scrub glass, tiles, and grout
- Clean mirror (streak-free)
- Replace or refold towels to hotel standard
- Replenish all consumables — toilet paper, soap, shampoo, conditioner
- Check drain for hair — clear if blocked
- Sweep and mop floor

Kitchen

Living Areas
- Fluff and straighten all cushions and throws
- Wipe all surfaces — coffee table, side tables, TV stand
- Check for stains on upholstery

- Walk through each room from a guest's eye level
- Check for smells — cooking, pet, musty
- Check all windows and blinds are closed/set as per listing
