Home Staging Cleaning for Ontario Sellers
Staging cleaning — the deep clean that prepares an Ontario home for listing — differs from regular maintenance cleaning in both scope and priority. Buyers and real estate agents notice specific signals of a well-maintained home, and a staging clean addresses those signals systematically.
Highest-Impact Areas (Do First)
- Kitchen: Oven interior (buyers open ovens), fridge interior (buyers open fridges), all countertops clear and grease-free, under the sink (agents check), stainless appliances polished
- Primary bathroom: Toilet (including under the rim), shower glass (no water spots), grout (consider grout pen or regrout if heavily discoloured), vanity and mirror
- All windows: Interior glass — buyers look out windows, and streaked glass gives a neglect impression
High-Impact Areas (Do Second)
- All other bathrooms
- All floors: vacuum, then mop hard floors
- Baseboards throughout (visible at viewing)
- Light switches and outlet covers (fingerprints)
- Interior of all closets (buyers open every door)
Lower Priority (Do If Time)
- Inside kitchen cabinet interiors (buyers often open cabinets)
- Garage floor
- Basement and utility areas
- Exterior entry — front door, porch, and walkway (critical for first impression on viewing day)
Timeline
Book the professional staging clean 2 days before photography. The day before photography, do a final light touch-up. On photography day: open blinds, remove personal items from counters, make beds with fresh linens, and remove vehicles from the garage and driveway.
