Window Cleaning Inside and Outside in Ontario
Clean windows transform the feel of an Ontario home — the full spring light through streak-free glass after a winter of grime is one of the most satisfying domestic improvements achievable in an afternoon. Interior window cleaning is a standard part of professional home cleaning; exterior window cleaning is typically separate and often seasonal.
Interior Window Cleaning
What you need: A microfiber cloth (or lint-free cloth) and either a commercial glass cleaner or a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. The squeegee technique is faster and more streak-free than cloth-wiping for large panes.
Technique: Spray the glass lightly (over-wetting increases streaking), wipe in an S-pattern with the squeegee (or wipe with horizontal strokes on one side, vertical on the other so you can identify which side any streaks are on). Wipe the squeegee blade after each pass. Polish edges and corners with a dry lint-free cloth.
Sills and tracks: Vacuum window tracks first to remove debris, then wipe with a damp cloth. Window sills accumulate dust and dead insects — wipe thoroughly as part of any deep clean.
Exterior Window Cleaning
For ground-floor windows: the same technique works — use a squeegee on an extension handle and a bucket of diluted dish soap solution for washing, then a clean squeegee for pulling the water off. For upper floors: use a telescoping water-fed pole system (available for purchase or hire), or engage a professional window cleaning company.
