Recurring Cleaning Cancellations — What to Know Before Booking
Cancellation and rescheduling policies are one of the most overlooked aspects of choosing a recurring cleaning service in Ontario. Understanding how a company handles a sick day, a vacation, or an unexpected schedule conflict is important before you commit to a regular plan. Here's what to ask and what fair policies look like.
What to Look For
- Notice window: Most Ontario services require 24–48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule without a fee. Anything requiring more than 48 hours is unreasonable for a recurring service — life doesn't give you 5 days notice for everything
- Late cancel fee: A flat fee or percentage of the visit cost for same-day cancellations is standard and fair. Charging the full visit price for a same-day cancel is aggressive; a $30–$50 fee is reasonable
- Vacation holds: Ability to pause service for 2–4 weeks without penalty for vacations — most services accommodate this with reasonable notice (5–7 days)
- Rate protection: Some services charge a higher rate for visits that become further apart due to frequent cancellations — if you're booked bi-weekly but cancel frequently, your price should not automatically jump to one-time rates without notice
Maidless Policy
We require 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule at no charge. Vacation holds with 5+ days notice are always accommodated. Our goal is a long-term service relationship, not catching clients on cancellation fees.
