Bathrooms
- Toilet: Inside the bowl (including under the rim), the tank, the base, and the floor around the base
- Shower grout: Mould in shower grout is a consistent dispute trigger — landlords interpret it as evidence of inadequate ventilation and cleaning habits
- Shower glass: Soap scum and hard water deposits on shower glass are highly visible
- Under and behind the toilet: Often neglected in regular cleaning — inspectors always check
Throughout the Unit
- Walls: Spot-clean all marks, scuffs, and fingerprints that exceed normal wear — particular attention to around light switches and door handles
- Baseboards: Dusty or dirty baseboards throughout the unit are an easy deduction justification
- Inside all closets: Floors, shelves, and the space behind and under closet organizers
- Light fixtures: Dust and insect accumulation in light fixtures is checked
- Window sills and tracks: Grime in window tracks is a quick inspection point
