What to Expect on Cleaning Service Day in Your Ontario Condo
Regular cleaning service in an Ontario condo is a slightly different experience than in a house — the building context, access logistics, and the smaller footprint all create a specific rhythm. Understanding what to expect makes the experience smoother for both client and cleaner.
Before the Cleaner Arrives
The most impactful thing condo clients can do before a cleaning appointment: tidy personal items off surfaces. A condo cleaning in 2 hours with clear countertops, no clothes on chairs, and the dining table cleared will be dramatically more thorough than the same 2 hours working around clutter. The cleaner is there to clean, not to sort.
Confirm the access arrangement in advance — will you be home, or providing key fob access? If the building requires an elevator booking, make sure it's been arranged.
During the Clean
Most clients either leave the condo during cleaning or occupy one room while the cleaner works through others. Staying and following the cleaner around is unusual and makes the work less efficient — if you're home, give the cleaner space to work. If you have specific requests or areas to prioritize, communicate these clearly at the start rather than interrupting mid-clean.
After the Clean
Do a quick walk-through after the clean if you're home and the cleaner is still there — it's the right moment to flag anything missed while it can be addressed immediately. For recurring clients, consistent feedback after the first few cleans sets clear expectations that tend to improve service quality over time. Don't save feedback for weeks — address it while the relationship is being established.
