Ontario Moving and Cleaning Checklist
Moving in Ontario — whether you're renting or buying — involves two distinct cleaning events: the move-out clean at the old address and the move-in clean at the new one. Here's a complete checklist covering both.
Move-Out Cleaning (Old Address)
Timing
- Book professional move-out clean 2–3 weeks in advance (earlier in April–June peak season)
- Schedule the clean for after your belongings are completely out — never before
- Take timestamped photos immediately after the clean, before the landlord's inspection
Professional Clean Scope
- Inside oven and range hood
- Inside fridge and freezer
- All bathroom tile, grout, toilet, tub/shower
- All floors vacuumed and mopped
- Baseboards throughout
- Window sills and tracks
- Inside all closets
- Light switches and door handles
Move-In Cleaning (New Address)
Timing
- Schedule before furniture delivery if possible — an empty space is faster to clean and more thorough
- For a resale home, clean on possession day or the day after
Focus Areas
- Inside all kitchen cabinets (previous owner's accumulated debris)
- Inside oven and fridge
- All bathroom surfaces
- All floors
- Window sills and ledges
All Ontario professional cleaning prices include HST (13%). Book at maidless.ca/ontario.
