Cleaning a Small Bathroom in 15 Minutes
Small bathrooms — the 4-piece or 3-piece baths that are standard in Ontario condos, apartment buildings, and older detached homes — are actually easier to clean than larger bathrooms if you have a method. The confined space means everything is within arm's reach, and the right order eliminates doubling back.
The 15-Minute Method
Minute 1–2 — Apply and dwell: Spray bathroom cleaner on the toilet (inside bowl, outside surface), sink, and tub/shower. Let it sit while you clean other surfaces — this is the most important time-saver. Dwell time does the scrubbing for you.
Minute 3–5 — Mirror and surfaces: Clean the mirror with glass cleaner and a cloth. Wipe the counter and any shelving. Remove everything from the counter, wipe under it, replace.
Minute 6–9 — Toilet: Scrub the toilet bowl with a brush. Wipe the outside of the toilet — lid, seat (both sides), base, and behind the base — with a disinfecting cloth or a cloth dampened with the cleaner that's been dwelling. Wipe the tank exterior.
Minute 10–12 — Sink: Scrub the sink with the dwelling cleaner. Wipe faucet handles and the underside of the faucet. Rinse.
Minute 13–14 — Tub/Shower: Scrub with the dwelling cleaner. Rinse. Squeegee if available.
Minute 15 — Floor: Sweep/vacuum then mop with a damp cloth or small mop. Get behind the toilet and the corners.
The Weekly Habit
A 5-minute weekly wipe-down of the toilet, sink, and mirror prevents the 15-minute clean from becoming necessary more than monthly.
